Comic-Con Pirate Party

Pirate Fight on the Surprise

The Marked Men kicked off their Comic-Con Pirate Party aboard the HMS Surprise with sword fighting and witty banter.  The crew performed an assortment of scenes for their guests, making movies come to life.

Captains

Peter Pan, Rufio, Hook, and  Jack Sparrow battled it out amongst motley pirates and wenches last Friday night.   Swords sparked but tempers did not fly despite hearty shouts from the pirate crew.

The rum was flowing and the pirates were dancing, singing, and making merry, entertaining guests with their annual Pirate Party.  The Dread Crew of Oddwood performed some heavy metal pirate jams with their eight-person pirate band.

Guests mingled into the wee hours of the night, all in full pirate attire.  My favorite part was seeing all of the costumes and watching the pirates put on their show.  I would recommend the party to any pirate fan for a guaranteed good time.

The Marked Men are also available for parties here at the museum for any interested party-throwers.

Corporate Party!

Events on the HMS Surprise

Do you have something to celebrate?  We have the perfect venue for your next party!

Not everyone knows this, but when you have a party on one of our ships, your guests are welcome to walk around and explore our whole fleet!  We have tall ships, a steam yacht, a ferryboat, two submarines, and more that will wow your group.

“I thoroughly enjoyed working with you both for our event on the HMS Surprise.  The mystic of a sailing ship definitely raised our attendance and made for the perfect venue to hold a fun event.  The attendees loved the boat, music, food, and drink.  The staff was great and the added bonus of getting to go through the other ships was a hit.  I would highly recommend the Maritime Museum for any event you want to make special!  Thanks!” said Larry Pogue of ITIP Ohio.

Interested?  Come down to the waterfront for a walk-through.  We’d be more than happy to show you around.

Big Bay Boom

Happy 5th of July!  What did everyone do yesterday for the 4th?

I’m guessing a lot of you partook in the usual festivities—BBQ, beer, hanging with friends, family, etc.  I know I did, and loved every minute of it.

Did anyone happen to be down on the San Diego Bay last night?  Well, the mystery is finally solved.  Now we know exactly what would happen if all of the fireworks went off at once.

Fireworks Fail

The 15-second fireworks bust has been all the buzz this morning.  What did you think was happening?  What do you think Garden State Fireworks will do to make amends?  I’m curious to see how it all plays out.

Check out this link of the #BigBayBoom to watch video of the show: http://www.nbcsandiego.com/video/#!/on-air/as-seen-on/Raw-Video-of-Fireworks-Mishap/161426605

In the meantime, no hard feelings—it was still a fun-filled evening and definitely a conversation piece.

Send us your photos if you caught any shots of the brief show and we will display them on our Facebook page!
